I saw a few old threads on the Intellichlor flow light staying red and so I apologize for starting a new one. In short, we just had the pool opened (we use a company to open and close the pool and I do the servicing in season) and the flow switch on our IC-20 is red though there is plenty of flow. The flashing red means check salt, when it goes to solid red it means low salt and the IC-40 willl not generate chlorine. I assume you have the newer version that doesnt have the yellow light for check salt. Also, 54 degrees is on the edge of a water temperature where the IC-40 will not make chlorine even if the salt level was correct.Once filter is clean turn pump back on and see if all the lights are green on the intellichlor. If flow light is still on you will need to replace the flow switch as they do go bad sometimes. This is a easy replacment with some basic hand tools needed. My Pentair Intellichlor IC40 salt cell has a red flow light. I took out the flow switch and visually inspected it and according to pictures I've seen nothing is broken on it. I acid washed the cell although it didn't look dirty. Backwashed a couple of times.After only a few months, the flow/sensor switch was replaced 2 times and then the unit started leaking. Pentair replaced the unit. The new unit Is only a few months old and has had it’s switch replaced once already.
